Hello! My name is Lauren Tijerina. I am the owner and lead teacher of Lasting Learners Academy.  The passion I have for children and teaching has led me here today! I am so excited to get to know you and your little ones! Here’s a little bit about myself and my background.

I grew up in San Antonio, TX and I am a die hard Spurs fan!  I attended and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. I moved to Austin to complete my student teaching and have been a teacher for Round Rock Independent School District for six years now as a first grade teacher at Chandler Oaks Elementary School, an IB World School. I have been married for 3 years and I am a mom to a spunky little guy named James Daniel, but we like to call him, JD!

A little about my professional background as an educator. I started my career working with children when I was a teenager with babysitting and then being a nanny.  Throughout college I spent 4 years working at two different daycares and was lucky enough to work with 2-4 year olds.  I hold multiple certifications, Generalist for early childhood through sixth grade, English as a Second Language for early childhood through twelfth grade, Special Education for early childhood through twelfth grade, and Gifted and Talented. I also have 6 years experience as an International Baccalaureate educator of the Primary Years Programme.
